The day before I posted the note on the forum wall, I woke up in the morning and directly confronted my fear and detachment. Wheaton College has been an example of how Christian community can provide love, care, and support to someone in a vulnerable position. Upon starting graduate classes in the fall ofI resolved to stay engaged in the Wheaton community. And we did that as women, one black and one gay. I put my contact information at the end of the one-page post, with an invitation to talk.
Hiring me for the reasons they initially said they did was an opportunity for them to communicate to LGBT students that God loves them and Wheaton wants them.
Email Address. I longed to be a part of communities like Wheaton and I thought a commitment to celibacy was worth it if it meant I could be involved. We tried to work it out.
